Do You Still Dread Working Out? This Is Why…

Believe it or not, working out should be enjoyable. No, really, it’s science! Exercising causes your body to release those feel good chemicals called endorphins. Endorphins block pain receptors and trigger positive feelings in your mind and body. These chemicals are so powerful, they have similar effects on the brain as morphine. So, if you continually dread your daily workout and aren’t gaining satisfaction from it, it’s important to figure out why.

Your Workout Isn’t for You

There isn’t just cardio or strength training, there is a whole myriad of different types of workouts and combinations thereof. Maybe the workout routine you dread needs a refresh. Think about what you’d like to get out of your workout -visible results, having fun, more energy, flexibility, stress relief, strength, weight loss -whatever you need from your workout, talk to an instructor at Pinnacle Fitness Center about it. They will be able to recommend a new set of classes, a personal trainer, or a new routine that fits your needs and schedule.

Your Nutrition Plan (or lack thereof) Sucks

Whether you’re taking caloric restriction too far, or you’re overindulging, a poor diet will make your workout unbearable. You’re either weighed down, or don’t have enough energy to make it through. Consulting a dietician or nutritionist would be optimal, but that’s not in everyone’s budget or schedule.

Tracking your macronutrients can reveal a lot about your eating habits and the sources from which your body is storing or pulling energy. You can even do it as easily as scanning food on an app like MyFitnessPal. Tracking your food is also beneficial so you have a record to show a nutritionist if and when you choose to get professional guidance. They can offer insights and recommendations to alter your current plan.

You Aren’t Hydrating

Feeling pretty crappy after what should have been a good workout? Dizzy, light-headed, headache, or weak feeling? You’re probably not drinking enough water. Simply keeping yourself hydrated is one of the easiest, most effective things you can do for your overall health and wellness. When you’re properly hydrated, workouts will feel less taxing.

You Aren’t Getting Enough Sleep

Yet another really easy, effective thing you can do for your overall health and wellness is sleep. Getting enough sleep can make a world of difference throughout your entire day, not just your workout. Sleep deprivation can lead to serious, chronic health problems including high blood pressure, stroke and heart disease.

At Pinnacle fitness club we offer classes throughout the day and very inclusive hours of operation so you can always fit fitness into your schedule without sacrificing your precious sleep.

You’re Bored

Have you grown complacent with your workout? If it feels like a waste of time and a shower, then you’re probably just going through the motions of a sad old routine. Mix it up! Try a new class, ask an instructor about a machine you’ve never used, or hit the lap pool. Whatever you do, keep it fresh and have fun with your workout.

Fitness shouldn’t feel like a chore or just another thing to check off the list. When you set yourself up for success, your workout can be the most rewarding, satisfying time of your day. Without the energy or drive, your workout can be miserable. At Pinnacle Fitness Club in downtown Omaha, we believe health and fitness need to be experienced holistically. Take care of your body and it will take care of you.
